Design & Community Outreach

The Channel Islands YMCA is an association of seven central California Ys including Camarillo, Ventura, Montecito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, and Lompoc. The established organization has been dedicated to transforming the traditional image from a place to work out into a place of healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. A series of videos were made featuring celebrities that tell their “Y Story” which became local campaigns that highlight how members lives have been positively changed.

Collaboration:

Serving as the Creative Director of the Channel Islands Y, the goal was to align the established brand cross-platform and cross-branch. Working with national brand guidelines, the design team built asset libraries, promotional materials for classes, annual reports, camp guidebooks, rebranded the website, and assisted fundraising efforts. The images were customized by the Digital Director, photographing local members and Y employees in the branches to personalize the connection.

Program & Class Promotions

Since there are thousands of classes and programs per month, the design team created and managed on-brand templates to help the instructors promote attendance. The templates were designed in user-friendly software and passed off to all branches to implement. Project reduced marketing requests by 40%.

Fundraising

Reaching for Stars is a fundraising event that hosts an evening of impressive cuisine prepared by local star chefs, fine wines, and live music to benefit at-risk youth throughout Santa Barbara County. Invitations, event signage and menus, were designed to have an elevated style while maintaining brand integrity.

Summer Camps

Summer Camps are a significant part of the Y experience for families. Camp Directors work with the design team to create yearly custom-tailored program guides and calendars. Campers will explore the diverse landscapes of central California while healthy living is encouraged through outdoor activity.
